The dawn of a new age for esports

 

FRANKLIN, IN – September 17, 2020 – The Esports Combine™ presents a new era of esports for any player to go big or go home. This October 16-18, esports players across the world looking to showcase their skills in front of scouts and recruiters will be given the opportunity to do so online. The Combine serves as a celebration of esports and its ever-increasing place in the academic world and will help players receive varsity team offers and scholarships from colleges and universities throughout North America.

 

The event will feature:

• A video game skills combine for featured players to show off their abilities for recruiters at the event
• Exhibition matches between top players across five different gaming titles featured on Twitch
• Informative Panels and Workshops moderated by esports industry experts and school program leaders, including but not limited to:
  • Gaming Careers Sessions
  • The Business and Law of Esports
  • Learning How to Be an Esports Pro
  • Virtual Reality and the Bridge from Traditional Sport to Esport
• Regional College Fair Sessions
• Recruiting Sessions for schools and players to meet virtually

 

The Esports Combine will showcase skill sets from thousands of esports players seeking to get recruited, features dozens of industry speakers and influencers, and expects to host more than 1,500 players, school leaders, esports industry experts and media online.

 

“This event will be grand and will give incredible opportunities to the many athletes we have looking to join professional esports teams or get recruited by schools,” said Bill Dever, Chief Strategy Officer at Harena Data. “In addition to the skills challenges and competitions, this is a spectacle for all things esports and professionals will have plenty of chances to network, create deals, and celebrate the industry.”

While this year’s event is virtual, the concept was originally scheduled to take place in the Indiana Convention Center before COVID concerns forced a change of scenery. Through a partnership with Indiana Sports Corp, the goal remains to bring a tremendous esports event to the city of Indianapolis in 2021, with the virtual event serving as a teaser for what will be once it is safe to congregate in large groups once more.

 

The Esports Combine™ will take place October 16th-18th virtually through an online portal that will organize the events, panels, and workshops.
